Israeli forces killed three Palestinians in Gaza on Monday: a child in the al-Mawasi 'safe zone' in the south, a man in Jabalia in the north, and a woman in Deir el-Balah in central Gaza, according to hospital sources cited by Al Jazeera. Nine other Palestinians were wounded in separate shootings and shelling incidents the same day.

Nearly a year after the ceasefire took effect, Israeli forces have not withdrawn from most of Gaza, and killings like Monday's continue to accumulate into a toll approaching 1,400 people. The strongest tension is between Israel's framing of such incidents as enforcement against ceasefire violations by Hamas, and Palestinian and UN accounts describing repeated fire on civilians, including in areas Israel itself designated as safe zones.

A ceasefire between Israel and Hamas, part of a US, Qatar, Turkey and Egypt-mediated peace plan, took effect on October 10, 2025, after two years of war that followed Hamas's October 7, 2023 attack on Israel. Under the deal's terms, Israeli forces withdrew only partially, remaining in control of about 53 percent of Gaza behind a so called 'yellow line,' and have continued carrying out strikes and shootings that Gaza's government media office has logged in the thousands.
